Story
Hello! Welcome to my fundraising page for CoppaFeel!.
This November, I will once again be donning my walking boots and trekking in name of boob-checking, cancer-preventing and life-living! If cancer taught me anything it's to grab opportunities with both hands and say yes to more things! So here I am... preparing for more fundraising, more training and more LIVING 🙌🌄
As I say goodbye to my 30s – and welcome my 40s – I will be standing on top of a mountain in the Himalayas, definitely smiling, most certainly grateful and probably crying! I seriously could not think of a better way to celebrate such a big milestone and I feel extremely lucky to be doing this all again. Swapping sand and heat for altitude and inclines, it will be a gruelling five-day trek through remote areas for up to 9 hours a day, climbing rugged mountain paths reaching altitudes of over 2000m.
It’s not only those extra years that will make this more challenging (why do I feel 40 is SO much older than 37?!) but the effects of the endocrine therapy I receive as part of my ongoing treatment that have put me in an extreme medical menopause – stiff joints, hot flushes and major brain fog are just some of the things I deal with every day as a result of my breast cancer diagnosis. Some days it feels like I have a mountain to climb as it is, so there's a lot to do before I'm ready to climb an actual mountain!
I am so up for the challenge though. Your donations will not only support my fundraising target, but most importantly CoppaFeel!. They are on a mission to stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer by making sure that young people are regularly checking their boobs, pecs and chests and getting to know their bodies in order to have the confidence to see their GP if something just doesn't feel normal.
Please help me support this wonderful charity and encourage me in my various efforts by kicking off my fundraising and adding a few pennies to the pot.
I know if you are reading this, you will be a friend. I want to say thank you for all your support over the last three years. Matt and I have had our challenges, but for now, all is good, and I want to revel in that, and part of that is saying ‘YES’ to all the opportunities cancer has opened my life up to!
Thank you - Lucy x 🍉🍉
