Story
Firstly, hi, thank you for reading!🌟🤩
This is huge for me, my first fundraising challenge, so I decided to go for the biggest of them all - naturally. 🏃♀️
The past year, I have struggled massively with menstrual and hormonal symptoms causing exhaustion and massively affecting my life. After multiple tests, they finally found a suspected growth on my womb (1 day before my 21st birthday). Finally, we had a treatment plan in place, and surgery. I am on the mend, and able to treat suspected endometriosis. An official diagnosis is many years away, but for now I am able to live my life to the fullest again.
Prior to this, I haven't ran properly in years. I am really excited to face this challenge head on and spend the next months working toward it. I am determined to do the London Marathon to prove to myself I can do it, and have something incredible come from such a difficult time.
I have decided to run for YMCA as its presence has been ever clear since living in Derby. The support they give for young people is amazing and it really makes Derby feel like a community not just a city.
About the charity: 🚨⭐
YMCA exists to provide the essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life: a safe home; acceptance; guidance; friendship; physical and mental health; academic support; employment skills; and access to real opportunities.
Many young people have never known these things; other people have lost one or more as they grew up, but we all need them. All of us.
YMCA provides these critical foundations for a fresh, strong start for young people and a better quality of life in the community.
YMCAs vision in England and Wales is to transform communities so that all young people can belong, contribute and thrive.
