Lucy & Tash are running the Sheffield 10k for St Luke's

Sheffield 10K - Team St Luke's · 29 September 2024
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. This September, I have signed up to run the Sheffield 10k for St Luke's Hospice and will be joined by my wonderful friend, Tash 🏃🏻♀️🏃♀️
This will be my biggest running challenge and my first ever 10k. I decided to sign up to challenge myself and tick something off the bucket list before I turn 30 (!), but most importantly to recognise the amazing work that St Luke's does across Sheffield every day.
I am proud to work at St Luke's and passionate about breaking down some of the myths and barriers around palliative care. Here are some things you might not know about St Luke's:
St Luke's mission to deliver the best possible care to the people of Sheffield who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
St Luke's is not just for cancer patients, and it's far more than a building. They are there for people aged 18 and over from across the Sheffield region regardless of faith, wealth or postcode, at all stages of life after diagnosis with a life-limiting illness, be that end stage neurological, heart, kidney or lung conditions, cancer, HIV, dementia or another illness.
The amazing St Luke's team care for 1,800 people across Sheffield each year, while also supporting their families and carers too.
Last year, 88% of people St Luke's cared for were supported at home, which is often where we're most comfortable.
Government funding covers just 25% of our running costs and we rely on fundraising from events like the Sheffield 10k to help us raise the remaining £10.5million needed each year.
Anything you donate is much appreciated, thank you!
