Story
When I finished the Spine race in January last year, stumbling across the finish line after 268 miles, in floods of tears, I genuinely thought that was a one-and-done. The race had emptied me physically and emotionally, but it had also given me everything I wanted. I’d found my limits and I’d just about pushed through them to reach the end. I didn’t think I’d ever feel a need to go back.
Yet here I am, just a few days away from standing on that start line again. You can read why here. https://lucygossage.com/the-spine-take-2-a-race-for-closure/
Last year I was utterly blown away by the generosity of 921 donors who contributed to help me raise £37000 (inc gift aid) for Move Against Cancer charity, a small but mighty charity. I believe passionately in the power of movement for those living with and after cancer and for the last 7 years I’ve lived and breathed this belief, co-founding and growing the 5K Your Way Cancer initiative and, since 2020 the Move Your Way resources and the Move Against Cancer charity as a whole. I know first hand the impact of the work we do - it honestly does change lives.
I didn't feel I could do another fundraiser - I felt I would be a fraud asking people to donate again after the incredible response last year.
But since sharing my blog lots of people have asked me whether they can donate. And I know any donations will help a small charity to do amazing things.
And so, if you enjoy following my weaving, stumbling, disorientated dot (who knows, maybe I'll be less disorientated this year!) and want to donate a metaphorical coffee and cake to an amazing charity that really does change lives, I'd love to invite you to do so here.
Thank you! Why don't you try something that scares you in 2025!
