Story
I’m running the London Marathon this year in memory of my darling cousin, Cressie, who tragically took her own life last August. Cressie was a beacon of light and joy in our lives, and her absence has left a deep void in the Comyn family & beyond.
This year, Cress would have celebrated her 40th birthday on 26th April —the day before the London marathon. When I realised this coincidence, I knew I had to run in her memory and raise funds for a charity close to her heart: the Anne Rowling Clinic.
The Anne Rowling Clinic conducts groundbreaking research and clinical trials for neurodegenerative diseases, including multiple sclerosis (MS), motor neurone disease (MND), Parkinson’s (PD), and cognitive disorders.
Despite claiming post a DNA test that she was genetically programmed for sprinting (!), Cress ran a half marathon in aid of the charity because MS is threaded through her wider family and a very good friend of hers also has it.
The Clinic's research offers individuals living with these conditions the chance to participate in studies that drive innovations and discoveries, paving the way for a more bright and hopeful future. The clinic operates as a charitable organisation through the University of Edinburgh Development Trust. By supporting their vital work, we can help improve the lives of those affected by these challenging diseases.
I'd be so grateful for any donations - despite it being my second marathon (7 years on!), I've started this year with a few physical niggles so any support will help spur me on in my training!
Thank you so much for your generosity and support 🙏
