As most of you know.
Joe (my eldest) was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Malignant Brain Tumour on September 2nd 2022. After undergoing a 12 1/2hr operation at The Walton Centre then after along stay in hospital because unfortunately he lost his right hand side he then started 6 weeks of Proton Beam Therapy at Christies Manchester, then thankfully had a 3 week break from treatment before starting his Chemo at Clatterbridge Liverpool.
Whilst on chemo for 9 months at Clatterbridge Liverpool, Teenage Cancer Trust played a huge role. Joe was treated on The TYA ward. The Sister Michelle and Nurse Hayley were just amazing and a small part of his Team. Specialist Nurse Claire and Franki Teenage Cancer Trust Youth co ordinator who honestly was just amazing. I can’t tell you how much they do and what they do for you, but For both Joe and I whilst on his treatment they really were Superheroes. So for me now it’s time to give something back to them and hopefully any money raised will fund the many things they offer to teenagers and young adults.
Our journey is far from over and for good number of years we will still receive their care.
Joes mates did this Marathon for him last year and i promised i would this year.
So if you can dig deep, and i will do my best to complete this Marathon for Them, all the other young people out there who are newly diagnosed, receiving treatment or about to start, but most importantly for Joe.
Who knows in a few years maybe he can do one himself.
P.S This photo was just after he had been diagnosed, as per usual just taking it in his stride.
Honestly forever proud, Lucy x
