Story

A Push and a Pull for Parkinson’s UK💙

On Sunday the 27th of August 2023 past, present and future members of Lower Nithsdale YFC will be climbing Criffel but with a twist. We will be assisting Ian Burgess to reach the top with the use of a cart.

Ian has lived at Maryfield Farm, New Abbey for 52 years however has never climbed Criffel in his lifetime. Sadly, due his Parkinson’s diagnosis Ian can no longer do this by himself which is where we step in. We will be climbing 1875 feet to reach the top whilst pulling the cart which Ian will be sitting on and helping him fulfil a lifetime goal.

We encourage anyone who would like to participate in this charity challenge to please let Club Secretary, Joanne Hiddleston know.

All money raised from this challenge will go directly to our chosen charity this year, Parkinson’s UK💙

To donate please do this by the following link, or donating to charity buckets on the day.

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
