The January blues have a lot to answer for… it was the month that the four of us agreed that we would like to take on a challenge together in 2024.
It was Zoe who came up with the idea of a marathon walk. “Let’s do a walk” she said “how hard can that be”.
Fast forward four months and the original thoughts of idyllic long walks in the country finished off with pub lunches and a large savvy have long gone… we are knee deep in to our training with back ache, sore hips, shin splints and blisters. One of us, who shall remain nameless, is also sporting a face full of scratches (note to all, be very careful where you answer a call of nature 😅).
We also never imagined that after thirty years of friendship even we would run out of things to talk about after hours and hours of walking together 😅
Like many people, cancer has touched all of our lives.
We are so incredibly lucky that Louise is a survivor of this awful curse and we are so proud of her and grateful that she fought it and won.
Sadly we know that a positive outcome doesn’t always happen and we have all lost dear friends and family in our lifetimes to this horrendous indiscriminate disease.
In walking the MacMillan Mighty Hikes marathon on 11th May 2024 we are pledging to raise £1000 between us and would truly appreciate any support in reaching this. This fundraising could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for eight days who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.
Cat - this one is for you darling 💕
Thank you, Caz, Louise, Sam and Zoe xxx
