Story

Just after my 60th birthday I decided without much thought and presuming that I wouldn’t be selected, to put myself forward for a charity race for the British Horse Society at Newbury, weirdly and wonderfully I was chosen to be one of 12 Jockeys.

I started to ride out for Chris Gordon at Morestead about 15 years ago, I suspect I was awful but they put with me and over the years I have ridden many different horses some lovely and others not so, but I’ve learnt loads and hope that I’m a better more patient and understanding rider then I was before.

I feel honoured and privileged to ride for the BHS and to ride one of Chris and Jenny Gordon’s horse’s on the day.

The BHS help to promote the prevention of cruelty, neglect or harm and to provide sanctuary to horses in need of care and they respond to over 6000 cases per year.

Through their ‘Changing Lives through Horses Programme’ they aim to improve the lives of children and young adults who need support are disengaged or disadvantaged.

Please help me by donating, any amount small or large will push towards that figure of £2500.

Many many thanks

Louise
