Story
Running the London Marathon has always been a dream for me and to run it for the RNID makes it that little bit more special.
This charity is so close to my heart, and I wouldn’t have wanted to run the marathon for anyone else.
I’ve had a hearing loss and tinnitus since I was 4 but was lucky enough to function pretty well until my deafness entered profound and I had a cochlear implant. This gave me back so much and allowed me to have the confidence to start my own business which I will be forever grateful for. I am so lucky to be able to function pretty well in a predominantly hearing world.
However, I am still profoundly deaf and I still have tinnitus. I still struggle to hear and have a lack of confidence. When I take my implant off, my world is thrown into a silent one apart from constant ringing and beeping which can have such a detrimental impact on me.
The RNID is so important in supporting people with deafness and tinnitus and I am proud and privileged to be a part of their 2024 London Marathon team.
