Story
Over the course of the next few months I’ll be taking part in "Foundation 25" and be one of 25 CAs undertaking a personal challenge to raise £1,000, aiming to raise £25,000 collectively to support the ICAS Foundation
I’ve set myself the challenge of rowing 200 miles on an indoor rower between November 2023 and February 2024. I’ve done a few running and cycling challenges over the years but after years of pavement pounding and endurance cycling I’m limited to low impact activities for now, so rowing it is! I’m definitely not an experienced rower so its going to be a bit like going from running a 5k to a marathon for me and I can’t even run 5k at the moment so wish me luck! I am tracking progress in an app and will keep this page updated with over the coming months so you can follow my 200-mile journey.
The ICAS Foundation supports academically talented students from disadvantaged communities to study accounting and finance at university. Support includes bursary funding, mentoring support and help in finding relevant internships and graduate jobs. In recent years over 95% of students supported by the Foundation have graduated with a 1st class or upper second honours degree and applications to the Foundation rise each year. This year we have seen a record-breaking number of people apply for funding and as a charity that relies on donations, the Foundation could not do what they do today without the help of ICAS members and so they need our support more than ever.
Please join me in supporting the ICAS Foundation by donating to this fundraiser and/or by encouraging any CAs in your network to support me or one of my fellow Foundation 25 fundraisers.
As well as targeting to raising £1,000 each we have a secondary target for 10 of our sponsors to be CAs from our own networks to engage 250 CAs collectively. So if you are a CA please do share this with others in your network to help increase the awareness of the work the ICAS Foundation does to support accounting and finance students.
Stories of students who have been supported by the Foundation provide great insight into how your donations can help others
