Story
I'm taking part in the November Knitting Challenge to support families facing dementia.
I have pledged to knit for half hour a day through November. Many of us have been affected one way or another with knowing someone suffering with Dementia. From personal experience the support of Dementia UK and the care services provided are invaluable.
Helping to care for a Dementia sufferer, I came across "Twiddle Mats" and have seen what a comfort these can be to the sufferer, such a simple idea which serves as great comfort to their fidgety hands and confused minds.
I am not sure how many I can make in a month but they will be donated to a local care home so they can be of comfort to someone.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
