We fundraise for local school age children to improve their mental wellbeing

Story

As a headteacher in Windsor and also a local parent of two primary school children, I am acutely aware of the critical importance of good mental wellbeing for our next generation.

The children in our town are facing unprecedented mental health challenges, and the funding for mental health support in schools has struggled to keep up with the increased demand, especially in light of the impact of Covid.

I am participating in the Windsor Trail Run Half Marathon on November 10th, as a personal challenge to raise funds for 'Well Windsor', an excellent local charity dedicated to supporting mental wellbeing in our community. This cause is close to my heart, especially after facing my own mental health struggles this year. I am passionate about equipping our young people with the tools they need to nurture their emotional wellbeing.

This will be my longest run since my hip operation in 2020, having been told in 2019 that I would “never run again”. It’s great to have a new physical challenge as well as the time to prepare for it!
