Story

'The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination'

I think that quote sums me up! I have learnt over the last year or so that if I set out to do something then I generally get it done because I am determined, focused and strong willed! I have lost over 8 stone in weight which hasn't been easy and has taken a great deal of will power. The weight loss has certainly fueled my desire to run and running has without doubt helped my weight loss, as well as numerous other things.

I started running in August 2023 when I started Couch to 5K. I ran my first ever Parkrun (5K) in October and completed a 10K on New Years Eve 2023! But now I have to take it further! I will be running the Chester Half Marathon in May. I am currently training for this event and feeling strong! It is just so amazing how running can help clear your mind, improve your health and give you focus. You can follow my training on Strava: www.strava.com/athletes/124618951

I am fundraising specifically for the Emergency Department at the Countess, which is where I work as a Consultant. I hope to raise money for the staff there who are my colleagues and friends. We continue to work in a highly pressurised environment, seeing at times the worst aspects of life, but as a team we remain resilient and supportive of each other and still strive to deliver the best for patients. I love my ED fam'. I feel in a great position to be able to give something back to these people who have supported me, made me smile, or done something kind for me in the past.

As better staff morale has been proven to have a direct impact on patient safety, I hope to see the funds raised go towards improving the staff room in the ED. Our staff need somewhere comfortable to rest, recuperate and be able to eat their food. At present it is a fairly uninviting, harsh and uncomfortable area and it would be brilliant to change that.

Thank you for taking the time to read my page and thank you in advance for your kind donation!
