Story
In September I will be running the Great North Run, my first half marathon, in support of Beat. Beat is an eating disorder charity whose mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. Raising money for Beat means a lot to me as in the last few years I have suffered from anorexia.
It not only affects people physically but emotionally and socially too and can be a very isolating time. During this time my mam used Beat a lot in order to help her cope and seek the support and advice which was available to her, and looking back now I wish I would have accessed support more to help me with my recovery.
I have chosen to raise money for Beat in order to try increase awareness of eating disorders and the impact caused, which unfortunately can be fatal. Not only this but to maybe help someone who is struggling, so they know it is okay to seek support and it is nothing to be ashamed of.
Any donations are more than appreciated.
