Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 16th April I am setting out on a journey to climb all the Graham mountains in Scotland. In 2005 I climbed all the Munros, walking in between and sea kayaking out to the islands. In 2014 I followed this up with a continual journey of all the Corbetts, sailing, cycling and backpacking in between. This time I will be going with an emphasis on minimum carbon footprint, walking and cycling in between and using the ferries and maybe the odd kayak to reach the 7 islands.
The body is older and a bit more worn out after 3 different cancer diagnoses over the past 12 years! I don’t want to shy away from this it has changed my life and made somethings more difficult but there is strength in dealing with life’s knocks and if it helps one more person get out there then of course it’s worth it a sense of humour and a wee but of stubbornness can go a long way….Once I step out the door life will become more simple after a hectic few weeks of planning.
In 2007 a very good older friend of mine died after a long time living with dementia. This was a difficult time and I was not aware of the support out there or how this is a progressive illness which can be slowed down by helping people be diagnosed early recognise signs and ways to support. My mum is now at the start of this journey and I want to understand more how to help and help to raise awareness for others. Alzheimer Scotland provide support for those living with dementia and their families as well as funding reach into prevention, detection and treatment.
