Story
My name is Lorna Mattinson and I am a Year 13 student at William Howard School. I have been running for a few years now and it has become one of my favourite things to do on a weekend.
At the start of 2022, I wanted to push myself and run 10K, but after achieving this, I wanted to see if I could go further. I looked into different races that I could work towards and came across the Brampton To Carlisle Race, which is 16K. Half marathons, which are 21K, seemed a bit daunting so I wanted to meet somewhere in the middle.
The Brampton to Carlisle Race will be the longest race I have participated in and have been working towards it for several months now, pushing myself every Sunday morning.
On one of my runs, a family friend gave me the idea of raising money for a charity. I thought it was a really nice idea, so I have decided to run for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan is a charity that does whatever it takes to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can. They provide health care, information, and financial support to people affected, and also campaign for better cancer care and look at the social, emotional and practical impact of cancer.
Giving a donation, big or small, will help Macmillan support everyone that they can and make life a little easier for those who are suffering.
Crossing a finish line after months of hard work will be very rewarding, but being able to raise money to help those who are suffering with cancer would be even more fulfilling.
Donations are given through JustGiving which is simple, fast and secure. JustGiving will never share personal details or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. It's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
Thank you to anyone who donates. Every little helps :)
