Story
This year I will have worked at St Michael’s Hospice for 10 years, during this time I have been involved in many fundraising challenges, including a half marathon, ab-sailing and skydiving to name a few. In October 2025, this will by far be my biggest fundraising challenge to date, when I reach the summit and conquer Kilimanjaro. At 5895m high, this mountain will have various challenges for me, including the unpredictability of the effect of altitude pushing me far beyond my comfort zone.
I am passionate and proud to work at the Hospice, supporting families through their toughest days. But for me personally, a few years back this amazing charity cared for my mother-in-law and supported us as a family at that difficult time, while my husband was also himself going through treatment for cancer.
More recently my husband is receiving some incredible support from the Hospice, as he goes through his journey with Parkinson’s disease. And so, more than ever this feels the right time for me to take on my biggest challenge and give something back.
I am glad to say I won’t be alone doing this challenge, as I will be with my colleague Lisa and over the next 18 months we will be holding many fundraising events.
Training has started and I am walking regularly increasing my distance step by step. As part of my training, I will be taking part in various walks. Currently I am signed up for the Venus Walk 12th July and Moonlight Climb of Snowdon on 13th September. Any sponsorship from these and future walks leading up to the ‘Big One’ next October, will go towards my Kilimanjaro fundraising. Please know some of your sponsorship money will be used to pay for the cost of the trip.
No contribution is too small, and every penny counts. Your support, whether through sponsorship, encouragement, or simply spreading the word, will mean the world to me and very much appreciated.
Thank you for your support.
