Climb a mountain in Manifold Valley Peak District · 26 April 2025

Project 500 is a movement to raise £500,000 for Mind Over Mountains, to significantly grow our charity so we can support more people with their mental health across the UK, through therapeutic outdoor experiences.

Story

I met Alex Staniforth, the co-founder of Mind Over Mountains when I went to Everest Base Camp in 2015, he was then 20 years old. He had his own personal challenges to deal with but was passionate about helping people with mental health illness by hiking for charity, writing books and public speaking. He inspired me then and now 10 years later he is still inspirational and I want to help him with Project 500, where he wants to raise £500k for his charity for his 30th birthday in June, because like he says there are many young people who do not reach this age due to mental illness.

I have been on two Mind Over Mountains trips and this one I’m doing with my daughter Rachel who has a demanding job working as a sister in the local hospital.

The trips always have trained councillors and therapists and we do mindfulness exercises along the way.

We are going to climb a mountain in The Manifold Valley in the Peak District.

I can’t think of anything better than supporting this very worthwhile charity
