Story
In 1988 Gary Hailes, Commanding Officer of the UK Garrison, released his huge hit single 'Lonely Boy'. Unfortunately, true to the song's name, it remained quite lonely and failed to reach the top 100 in the UK (or anywhere else for that matter).
Gary hasn't sung the song live for over 35 years and since we are raising money for Make-A-Wish during Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, along with other Star Wars Fan Groups, we thought it would be fun to challenge Gary to help us raise more.
During the latest episode of Jedi News' RADIO 1138 podcast (episode 104 -- listen here) host James Burns challenged Gary to sing 'Lonely Boy' live at 'Return of the Bash' on April 7th, 2023, at the Pergola on the Wharf. For those not attending, don't panic -- we'll be filming the performance and sharing it on our social channels and YouTube.com.
So, what are you waiting for? Please donate and help us raise £501 for a very worthy cause, and ensure that Gary's 'Lonely Boy' reaches its biggest audience... ever!
Make-A-Wish® UK creates life-changing wishes that revive the childhood that critical illness takes away, bringing light and joy at the darkest of times for a child and their loved ones. But right now, there are 60,000 children in the UK living with a critical condition, and they don’t have the resources to be that light for everyone. Your generous support will help them step closer to achieving their vision: to grant a wish to every eligible child. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness.
