Story
My name is Holly; I am a third-year student studying Psychology at the University of Leeds.
I chose my degree because I was interested in mental health, the physiology behind the complexity of mental trauma, and, more importantly, what we can learn to do to improve it.
However, perhaps ironically, the intensity of university life allowed me to recognise how crucial mental health is at all times. So I took up running.
I had no idea what I was doing and couldn't run 1 kilometre without stopping. If someone were to tell me that within 1 year, I would be running 42 times that distance, I would probably have told them I could do it, although certainly wouldn't have believed that!
But now, two running clubs later, I have become obsessed with the incredible community that comes with running, and it has truly changed my life for the better.
Mind is an amazing charity that provides advice and support to people experiencing mental health problems. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding.
I am therefore honoured to participate in The London Marathon to support Mind, myself, and all the incredible individuals who are on their own journeys and facing their own battles. Furthermore, I want to show my gratitude to both my friends and family for consistently putting me back on track (pun intended), as without their support, I simply would not have been able to take on such a challenge.
Although, your donations are what truly aid Mind’s fantastic research. However big or small, I would be honoured to run with your generous support.
Thank you :)
