I have been volunteering at Matthew’s House since January and it has really opened my eyes to the homelessness crisis that is so prevalent in my city. I am taking part in this ‘Sleep out’ to raise money that will make a huge difference in tackling this problem. I also hope that my participation will lead to many others being educated on this topic because I have learnt that homelessness is much closer to you than you think. This charity is very important to me and I hope that you will support it!

Homelessness and rough sleeping are still problems for people in Swansea. The causes are complicated, and the solutions are equally complex. This event will highlight the issues and put a focus on two charities working together to help. It will raise much needed funds and give wonderful volunteer fundraisers a tiny taste of sleeping out in the cold of Autumn. We know this doesn’t compare with the uncertainty and hardship of actual homelessness, but it does help focus the mind, and offers a chance to make a difference by raising funds.

As Thom from Matthews House said, "working together with friends and partners is always better for everyone". So let's work on this together and help 'bring hope to people in need'.

This year we will be sleeping within the bowl of the stadium overlooking the pitch with access to the concourse in case we have a repeat of last's year's weather.
