Story
In 2013, I was diagnosed with Lobular Breast Cancer, a cancer I had never even heard of. In 2023 the cancer spread to my spine because the treatments I am on were never specifically designed for my type of cancer.
Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer (ILC) is the 2nd most common type of breast cancer with 1000 people a day being diagnosed with the disease, yet ILC currently has no specific treatment.
Researchers at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London believe with more funding specifically for lobular breast cancer research, they could fully understand the biology of ILC. This is the vital next step to getting the specific treatment needed to improve outcomes.
I launched the 'Lobular Moon Shot Project' in 2023 to help raise the £20,000,000 need by ICR for a 5 year research project to fully undertand the bioloigy of ILC.
To raise funds for the Lobular Moon Shot Project - lobularmoonshot.org - and despite being stage 4 (metastatic), on Saturday 26th August 2023 I walked 20 miles from Horsham (were I live) to the coast at Shoreham. Now I continue to walk and talk whenever I can to raise money and raise awareness.
On 14 November 2023, I will be walking in the outback of Australia to raise more money.
I will add details of further walks in the future
Thank you for supporting me to raise funds to try and find specific treatments for the cancer I and 1000 people a day are diagnosed with, what many call the 'forgotten cancer' or 'hidden cancer.
