In 14 weeks time I will be running the TCS London Marathon 2025 in support of Shelter for team National Grid.

Well before I started my running journey I’ve always imagined what it would be like to take part in the London marathon.

In March 2020 when COVID started I stopped running and got myself into what can best be described as some bad habits.

Roll this forward to October of this year and after 4 and a half years, I took part in a fundraiser, running a total of 50 miles in one month which I completed and started to feel great again about running, so asked myself, what’s next?

That’s when a chance opportunity presented itself and an invitation to apply to join Team National Grid at the TCS London Marathon 2025 in aid of Shelter.

It makes me both proud and privileged to have been accepted as part of this team for our Big Run and today my running journey continues with a 16-week training plan.

We have set a very ambitious personal target which if achieved will be match funded, so the ask is to please give as little (or as large) a something to this very worthy cause…….

Did you know that more than 150,000 children were in temporary accommodation this Christmas time? Without a home, worried about a rat infestation, getting ill from black mould and damp, or being moved abruptly away from their life, school and friends to a new place they are expected to call home.

Not only that but the reality is that for most of us we are only just a pay check or a relationship break-up away from homelessness ourselves? This is where Shelter can help.

HOME IS EVERYTHING - Shelter exists to defend the right to a safe home. Ending the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and our communities.
