Story
The Challenge
In November 2021, the club lost our dear friend Neil Davies, who died from a rare adrenal carcinoma, aged just 50. He was an outstanding athlete, an incredible human being, father to two beautiful daughters and husband to Helen. In Neil’s memory, Llantwit Major Tennis club is undertaking a 24 hour tennis endurance challenge to raise funds in support of Marie Curie and Hope Rescue, two amazing charities that supported and cared for Neil and his family during his illness. To complete this challenge the participants are required to keep at least one court in continuous play for a 24 hour period – from midday on the 16th Sept to midday on the 17th Sept 2023.
The Charity
Hope Rescue Centre for dogs, a local charity that has been helping to save the lives of stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs since 2005. Through fostering some of the most neglected dogs, Neil managed to find extra emotional support during his battle with cancer which had an immensely positive impact on his mental health at an incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page and making a donation, however big or small. Neil’s death affected us all so deeply and we are so grateful for the support of the local community to help us make this event a reality and raise funds to help support families facing this terrible disease.
