In April 2024, just 3 days after my 60th Birthday I will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for, and awareness of, a fantastic local charity Harbour Cancer Support that provides practical and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer.

Like so many families, ours too has been affected by this horrible disease, as I lost my wonderful niece Rosie, aged just 19, to cancer. Rosie was acutely aware of the knock on effect her cancer diagnosis had on her family and friends. Whilst she couldn’t fault the help that she received she was dismayed by how much more difficult it was to get the right help for her family and friends. Despite facing her own challenges she went on to raise thousand of pounds for cancer charities in her local area which provided this support. She was a very inspirational young lady!

By running the London Marathon for Harbour Cancer Support, and in honor of Rosie, I now have my own opportunity to do the same for families going through the toughest of times, in my area. I run at the speed of a tortoise and have never run further than 13 miles, so this will be a massive endurance challenge for me. But with your support I am determined to make it across the finish line and raise as much money as possible for Harbour Cancer Support.
