We raise charitable funds to enhance patient experience

Story

Staff and students from the University of Liverpool's Faculty of Health and Life Sciences are aiming to raise £10,000 in 2024 for the Liverpool Women's Hospital Charity's Bereavement Suite Appeal.

The funds will help transform clinical rooms on the hospital's Gynaecology and Maternity wards into comfortable, home-like spaces to be used by families who have sadly experienced a pregnancy loss or still birth.

The rooms will allow families to stay together in peaceful surroundings to make special memories, away from the bustle of the rest of the hospital whilst being supported by the hospital’s nurses, doctors and Honeysuckle Team.

The funding will go towards:

• Soundproofing to protect families from the sounds on the wards

• LED cloud lighting to create a calm atmosphere for during clinical procedures

• A pull-down double bed to allow partners to stay so families can remain together

• Comfortable furniture and basic amenities such as a kettle and microwave to create a self contained space

• Artwork to create a peaceful and relaxing environment.

• Soft furnishings to create a home-from-home.

Activities planned

• Easter Bake Off & Egg Competition-The School of Dentistry are using their baking and artistry skills leading up to Easter. We are eggcited to hold a Bake off and an Egg decorating competition with an Easter theme. Prof Bissell will be our chief taster/judge, offering a ‘Bissell Handshake’ to the winners!

The competition will be held on Wednesday 27th March in the Student Common room.

If you would like to support TeamFHLS, all donations would be greatly appreciated.
