Back Liz to run the distance for PCP’s Options service
On Sunday 8 September I am running the Great North Run to raise funds and support for our Options service at the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP).
Options is a co-produced day service for adults with physical and learning disabilities to get support and develop life skills. There is also the addition of a weekly evening social club, for adults with learning and physical disabilities to connect and make friends. I first got to know the Options members when starting my role as Deputy Chief Executive at PCP in 2023 - their enthusiasm for life is infectious and I love spending time with them.
PCP has recently invested in a new extension to the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe to house all of Options’ activities. As a charity, we fundraised to build the extension, but PCP couldn’t afford to redesign the garden area immediately in front of the new extension. Options members are desperate to reinstate the fountain, create some nice boarders, as well as planters, flowers and a nice outdoor seating area for them to make the most of the indoor – and outdoor space available to them.
I know times are hard for many people at the minute, so I’ve set a fundraising target of £500 to help our Options members get a ‘head start’ on fundraising activities. I hope to raise enough money to be able to reinstate the fountain in front of the building and hopefully purchase some flowers. Every little helps, it will all make a huge difference to our members.
Thank you, Liz xx
