Story
Livingston James Group
Livingston James Group’s purpose is simple, we are here to advise and support people and organisations to realise their potential so that together we can impact lives and communities for the better. Every year we partake in a corporate challenge to raise money for a chosen charity, this year we are proud to partner with The Outward Bound Trust.
The Outward Bound Trust
The Outward Bound Trust’s core mission is to inspire young people to realise their potential through learning and adventure in the outdoors. Through wild adventures and life changing experiences they inspire young people to believe they can achieve more than they ever thought possible. So, with this in mind, on Saturday 14th September 2024 we will take ourselves out of our comfort zones and undertake our own Outward Bound challenge. A full day of adventure starting with an ascent of the UK's highest peak Ben Nevis - 16km of walking with 1,345m climb, followed by a 7km canoe paddle, on Loch Eil to the centre.
Loch Eil Learning Village
In Scotland The Outward Bound Trust achieve long term outcomes for young people through residential courses at their Loch Eil centre. We are fundraising to help them complete their final part of the refurbishment at the Loch Eil Learning Village. This project will see 10 pods created on site – one pod for each group of 12 young people. The pods will be situated around a communal firepit in the grounds of the centre and built to survive the Highlands weather (and midges!) with a life span of 50+ years. Within that period the village will support 300,000 young people!
The fundraising efforts will directly support with the build of one learning pod. Over its lifetime this pod will serve 30,000 young people, helping them develop skills and capabilities to realise their potential and positively contribute to their schools, workplaces and communities.
The learning pod will be named in the memory of Scot McRae, a member of the Outward Bound Scottish Council, a group of professionals who are passionate about the work of Outward Bound and volunteer their skills and network to advance the work of The Trust in Scotland. Scot sadly passed away in 2023. and the pod will honour his long standing support. Scot undertook many adventures in his life and he would undoubtedly have joined the Livingston James challenge, in recognition of his boundless energy and powers of persuasion, members of the Scottish Council will also participate in the challenge event and fundraising.
Together, we are two purpose driven organisations, focussed on helping people realise their potential, so that together we can impact lives and communities for the better.
Thank you for your support in helping us achieve this goal.
