Story
I am delighted to announce that my charity for 2023-2024 is The Elexis Brown Golf Foundation, a wonderful charity set up in memory of Elexis Brown, an aspiring young golfer who sadly passed away in August 2021 at the tender age of 13.
Elexis started her golf journey in 2014 and in only 7 years achieved the title of Under 14 Lincolnshire County Champion. Elexis’ dream was to play for the England Girls and gain a scholarship to America. However, Elexis never forgot where she started her golf and believed that all young people, irrespective of race, gender, disability, religion, poverty, or personal circumstances should be able to play golf.
The aims of The Elexis Brown Golf Foundation are:
- to create a place to support children from underprivileged or disadvantaged backgrounds and give back to children who normally would not have the chance to play
- to provide golf activities which develop skills and capabilities, enabling them to participate in society as mature individuals
- to provide scholarships for facilities, equipment, and coaching to enable those from socially, economically, and disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in golf
- to support those with disabilities in the world of golf and show them that anything is possible
As a result, each recipient, irrespective of circumstances or background, will have the opportunity to enjoy golf, and give each individual a chance to grow, not just in golf, but also to develop life skills to take with them as they grow older.
I'm really looking forward to my second year in post as Lady Captain of Little Aston Golf Club and hope we can raise as much money as possible to support this amazing charity and help change young people’s lives for the better.
