My 5 day trek in the Isle of Skye for CoppaFeel!

CoppaTrek! Isle of Skye · 14 June 2025 to 20 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Here's why:
When my darling friend and sister-in-law Emily first presented to the doctor with a lump in her breast, she was told it was nothing to worry about and sent home. As a young woman in her early thirties, it was assumed that nothing sinister was going on and there was no follow up or referral.
So when she was finally diagnosed there had been another year for it to grow.
When Emily died in 2021, we were devastated. As time goes on I am angry. What if she had been taken seriously? What if they'd found it and started treating it when she first visited the doctor? Would it still have come back and ripped her away from us?
We can't know the answer to that. But Coppafeel are out there every day to make sure that people in Emily's situation not only remember to check their chest and know what to look for, BUT that they also are empowered to insist on being taken seriously. And that doctors are educated not to dismiss someone just because they are young.
It's been a brutal couple of years - losing mum a year (almost to the day) after Emily too. And I feel like it's time to take on something big and meaningful and life-affirming.
So: this June I will set out on a challenging, extraordinary and life-changing 5 day trek in the Isle of Skye, in a bid to raise funds towards CoppaFeel's life-saving mission.
Your donations will not only support my fundraising target, but most importantly CoppaFeel!. They are on a mission to stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer by making sure that young people are regularly checking their boobs, pecs and chests and getting to know their bodies in order to have the confidence to see their GP if something just doesn't feel normal.
