Story
Hi my name is Lisa Vint aka Vinty and I will be taking part in the Big Jump 2024 for the Owen McVeigh Foundation. This will be the second year of taking part and I’m so excited to be involved.. Please sponsor me and support this great cause.
I have been fundraising since the loss of my husband Peter Vint to suicide in 2017 and have raised money for various charities including Owen McVeigh Foundation, alongside Andy’s Man Club, SOBS (survivors of bereavement by suicide), Flourish and succeed CIC … these have been to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention in Peter’s memory. I have also raised funds for cancer research and the Alzheimers society.
Peter’s name is also included on the launch a memory lifeboats stationed at various lifeboat stations across the country … 5 to date with a further relief lifeboat to be included.. these raise much needed funds to support RNLI and the all weather Shannon class lifeboats, where loved ones names are held…
I have taken part in many activities to raise funds and awareness including: Santa dashes, pretty mudder race for life, colour rush, Wirral costal walks, the Hillsborough memorial walk, 5K run for the 97, Yorkshire 3 peaks (not on the same day) , Snowdon, Scafell, Ben Nevis via the arête , helvellyn, along the striding edge, Tryfan north face, Cadair Idris, the Glyders, forest of bowland circular, amongst many other various mountains, hills and walks including parts of offa’s dyke path (over 33 miles in 3 walks) and 21 miles Crosby to Southport walk.
I have also completed abseils down the Liverpool cathedral in 2021 and 2022 (Owen McVeigh Foundation) trekked to Everest base camp (Andy’s Man Club) and ventured to Peru and Bolivia completing a trek to Machu Picchu all in Peter’s memory.
I completed tough mudder in Sept 22, for Andy’s Man Club, although not fund raising, but rather raising awareness for and reducing the stigma about mental health and suicide prevention.. I intend to take part in the north west event in Oct 2024 supporting the foundation ..
More recently I completed my first sky dive in April 2023 (Big Jump 2023 Owen McVeigh Foundation) in both Nettie’s and Peter’s memory.
I will also be taking part in this years Santa dash in Dec 2023, with any pennies going towards the foundation on this link.
This year I’ve completed a Scafell sunrise hike (although someone forgot to inform the weather so we never actually got above the cloud base), Hiked up Moel Hebog, alongside completing Snowdon again via the Watkins path / Rhyd DDU Path .. Ive hiked the Scottish Highland Way from Milngavie to Glen Nevis near 100 miles all raising awareness to support the foundation , alongside hiking the Abel Tasman Coastal Track in New Zealand - amongst other activities, whilst wearing my T-shirts and hoodies at every opportunity to raise awareness and support the foundation.
Sadly we were not able to complete the intended sky dive over Mount Cook; but I took Owen - Whale watching, seal spotting, skiing, luging, helicopter ride over Queenstown landing on a snow covered mountain top, on a jet boat up the canyons, on the Fford at Milford sounds, we seen the glacier waterfalls, dolphins and a penguin too..
Over the last few years I have set up a Facebook birthday fundraiser to help raise funds and awareness for the foundation too …
As indicated I also fundraise in memory of my dear friend Nettie , who sadly lost her life to cancer. Nettie was an inspiration to all, vibrant and full of life, supporting those around her no matter where she was at.. I am privileged to be able to call her my friend ..
We had completed an initial fundraising walk pre covid for Nettie during the early stages of her fight against cancer to support funding her alternative treatment and sadly completed a memory walk following the same route in October 2022. We have completed memory walks since and will continue to do so … the last being held on 11th November 2023, with a further two dates set for the 30th January 2024 and the 13th April 2024 just before Nettie’s birthday and Peter’s anniversary..
life is too short and before we know it, we have lost those close to us too soon. we have to keep moving forward but do so in a way that celebrates the life of those we’ve lost keeping their memories alive ..
don’t let the struggles of life take over , you are worth much more than that and loved by those around you. Do not fear the unknown , be brave as you have the strength within to achieve … Nothing is impossible when I’m possible … as beyond fear lies freedom
i would like to say a big thank you to all who have supported me on my journey and who donate to my pages and the various things I have done and continue to do… ..
Sending you much love, take care and keep safe xx
