Story

Every single day, journalists around the world risk their lives to bring people the truth - whether in a war zone, or reporting on oppressive regimes.

In May this year, my friend and former colleague Arman Soldin was killed while reporting in eastern Ukraine. He was only 32 years old.

Arman is one of more than a dozen journalists who have been killed since the invasion. His work helped expose the inhumanity of war, while telling the stories of ordinary Ukrainians caught in conflict zones.

I am running the Royal Parks Half to raise money for the Rory Peck Trust, which exists to protect freelance journalists globally. It provides safety training, professional psychological support and critical financial assistance through their Safety Training, Therapy and Crisis Funds.

Rory Peck was a Northern-Irish freelance war cameraman who was fatally shot outside a TV station in Moscow while covering the 1993 Russian constitutional crisis.

Any contribution is greatly appreciated. All of the money raised will go towards the Rory Peck Trust and their work in helping freelance journalists worldwide.

Thank you.

Lisa
