Introducing Lisa.....

Hi, my name is Lisa Kelly and after finding a lump in April last year, I was diagnosed with Triple negative breast cancer.

Little did I know, I was about to embark on 15 months of gruelling treatment, which included 16 rounds of chemo followed by surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy which would ultimately save my life. I will be forever grateful for the remarkable care I received from all the wonderful NHS staff, the unwavering support from my nearest and dearest, not to mention the lovely new friends I’ve made along the way.

I first came across The Rainbow Valley charity when I attended their nutrition course and I’ve been lucky enough to be given a space on the residential course called 7 steps to health later this month. I was instantly made to feel very welcome and just knew I wanted to give back in the hope that more people with cancer will benefit from their amazing work.

I’d hoped to take part in the West Highland Way, however treatment side effects meant that would be out of the question.

Modelling in a fashion show certainly wasn’t part of the plan, however one conversation with Angela makes you feel invincible and I was signed up! 😂 The catwalk at The Doubletree Hilton although much shorter, for different reasons, will be every bit as challenging 🙈😅

I’m delighted to say that I’m due to have my final round of active treatment in July and I feel privileged to be celebrating my 50th Birthday this year too. Although horrific, a cancer diagnosis, can sometimes lead to many unbelievable positives. I know I will never be the same person or take my health for granted again and thanks to Rainbow Valley the sky is the limit🥰🌈

My new motto in life is a quote from Confucius, who said

We have two lives.

And the second begins when we realise we only have one. ❤️
