Story
For my 21st Birthday this year, I have decided to take part in the 2023 Garstang Colour Dash to raise money for St John's Hospice as a fun challenge!
Although I used to run long distance as a child, I had lost all my passion for the sport when I entered senior school due to a myriad of reasons. This lack of determination to challenge myself had been exacerbated the last few months at university due to work-related stress kickstarting some newfound health issues. However, determined to quash these, I took myself out on a run, after having been inspired by my housemate, and rediscovered the thrill of it. I can wholeheartedly say I am no Usain Bolt but I hope to take on this challenge with some of my friends as a symbolic celebration of the internal challenges I have overcome recently and to have fun, surrounded by some of the people who have made me smile, even during the days I didn't think it was possible.
St John's Hospice works with the local community including Lancaster, where my university is based. Therefore, since this area means a lot to me, any donations would be appreciated to help me give something back to a city that has introduced me to some of the best people.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and thank you if you have the funds to donate; I understand it is a difficult time for us all.
