Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In May 2025 my sister Rachel & her best friend Emma will be trekking the Great Wall of China, one of the seven wonders of the world, walking through a remote section from Gubeikou to Jinshanling, through wild & remote landscapes with stunning views & distant mountain peaks, some of the sections they will be walking have hundreds of thousands of stairs, some of which have begun to crumble & some areas have steep gravel slopes. Each day they will be walking for 5 to 8 hours, the activity level is high plus they will be carrying their 7kg backpacks with all their essentials in. Sounds hard work doesn't it.........but they will have some wonderful views along the way as well as blisters, bites & weeing in bushes (haha only kidding) This beautiful place will be on many peoples places to visit & whilst they take on this challenge they will be raising money for a wonderful local charity 'Dove House hospice'.

To take part in this great adventure they have a challenge of raising £3500 each for the charity through fund raising events over the next year, one of these being 'The Beijing Boogie Bash Danceathon', this is 4 hours of non stop dancing, including a bit of Zumba, Clubbercise & more!! I'm super proud of my little sister, so I just couldn't say no to helping raise money for such a great place.

Making a donation is a great way to support a local charity with every penny going towards helping people during some of the most difficult days & supporting them means the hospice can help many local families.

SO why am I taking part? In January this year I was diagnosed with stage 4 secondary breast cancer with bone metastasis, most days I'm tired & I ache, I can't really do much at all, then other days I feel great & think I could run a marathon (running is something I couldn't even do before my diagnosis haha) so taking part in a 4 hour danceathon is me challenging myself whilst raising money for a great local charity, hopefully my treatment plan will be working & i will be having a good day, if not I will be doing chair dancing!
