Story
As always #roryswarriors love to take on a challenge to support this small but mighty charity Kidneys For Life. This year marks 10 years since our Manchester to Buxton walk, the distance we regularly have to travel for Rory’s appointments, tests, operations and hospital admissions, so we have decided to replicate the walk this year, and will be just after Rory’s 6th kidney transplant anniversary!
As most of you know Rory was born with a rare condition called PUV and as a result had a kidney transplant when he was 4yrs old, after 8 months of dialysis. This year Rory has faced yet more operations, most significantly he had an operation on both legs to help straighten them (taking his tally to 18 operations so far!). His legs are causing him pain as he goes about his day, but he still manages to push through rarely complaining- this being another side effect of his condition. Rory’s resilience and positive outlook on life makes us so proud everyday.
Please support us as we take on this challenge and raise vital funds for this great charity. The research team is working hard at the UKs largest renal unit to find a way to make a kidney, for life, a reality.
