Story
Hello you wonderful people,
It will come as no big surprise that I am continuing with my cycle adventures. For those of you that don't know, I cycled the coast of GB in 2022 and aimed to raise £50,000 for the MS Trust. I was diagnosed with MS in 2013. It is my tenth year anniversary with it and I'm celebrating it by continuing with another cycle (or two - actually I'm not sure I'll ever stop cycling!).
Although I completed cycling along the coast, I raised just under £10,000 only and not the big £50,000. It was a tall feat in itself, though the amount raised is still a worthy sum to be proud of.
Being exceedingly loyal to the cause, my word absolutely stands and so therefore I'll be continuing my adventures till £50,000 has been reached. It will now be with the MS Society who are another great charity for the MS community.
So many people had stated that I had completed the coast of UK. Rather than correct people, I've decided to rectify the situation by simply cycling along the coast/border of Northern Ireland. I'm calling it Belfast2Belfast. Once completed, I could then state that I have completed the UK. A proud moment, it will be!
The next bit of my project is to then circumnavigate the Republic of Ireland.
This will be happening as of Thursday 20th April. I will be travelling from the west coast of Scotland down to Stranrear, in order to catch a ferry to Belfast. I will be at the MS Centre in Belfast on Tuesday 25th April, together with the MS Society. If you fancy joining us then please do. Everyone is welcome, of course!
If anyone would like to join me on my cycling journey, then please do get in touch with me. Would love it if people joined me on certain stretches.
You will need to be fairly flexible with your timings (and possibly dates too), just to warn you. I'm hoping I'll be a wee bit faster this time round but will not know for sure. I love chatting and getting to know people, so this could slow me down 🤣 (this is a real possibility!).
I'm excited and nervous all at the same time, though a very different feeling as to when I was at the start line for coast of GB. I felt so ill with anxiety and could hardly talk properly to people. Far less anxious as I know what it entails now.
Thanks for all the incredible support shown so far with my new expedition. Not one person should be facing MS on their own! This is something I care deeply about. I want to make a difference and help as many people as I can. I went through a tough 6 years with it but I've come out the other side, in a way that I couldn't possibly imagine and it's very much here to stay! I've been quietly attempting to write a book all about this, together with my coastal cycle of GB and the incredible people I met along the way. One day I'm hoping it will be published!
Thank you, for your donations, it is hugely appreciated!
