Story
Hello,
On 6 April 2022 I adopted my rescue dog, Ziggy. We've since then been inseparable, he is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
In February 2024 he became severely ill and the hospital he was at suggested referring him to the specialists at Royal Veterinary College's Queen Mother Hospital for Animals.
It was very lucky he got the emergency referral as he required two blood transfusions and a course of treatment. He spent a week at the hospital and they literally saved his life.
During my visits I've seen their unmatched care first hand. I met some dogs and their owners who are regular blood donors over there. I know how rare it is to find such specialist treatment within close proximity to London, and how lucky we are Ziggy received it. He's now fully back to himself - happy, crazy, and full of love and joy.
I'm therefore running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 6 April 2025 (exactly 3 years since I adopted Ziggy) to support the RVC's charity, the Animal Care Trust. They fund new hospital equipment, life-saving research and support the next generation of veterinary professionals. Every donation helps improve animal care. Together, we can make it possible for more pets to return home to their loving families. I want to run this half marathon aware that with every step, a loving animal's life may be saved.
