I am walking 310 miles from Plymouth to Winchester in aid of the Winchester and District Branch of Samaritans, as well as raising awareness along my way of the work that Samaritans does nationally. I have been a volunteer listener for Winchester Samaritans for over three years.

My route begins in Plymouth and follows the coast to Bournemouth before turning inland to Salisbury, finishing in Winchester.

In my time volunteering I have seen, first hand, the power of simply listening to people who are struggling to cope. Today's world can be an over-whelming place and Samaritans volunteers are there for anyone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Winchester Branch has no paid employees and is completely volunteer-run. We are dependent on the kindness of donors to ensure we can keep the lights on and provide the essential service of emotional support whenever it is needed.
