The Salvation Army was one of the charities close to my Mum's heart.

She was particularly concerned with the issue of homelessness, and thought The Salvation Army did a great job of tackling this problem.

She told me that as well as giving them regular donations, she always gave her heating allowance to them every year.

She was quite clear that she didn't want any flowers - "far too wasteful" - but instead she wanted people to give money to The Salvation Army.
