Story
Earlier this year, I visited a dear friend at Leckhampton Court Sue Ryder Hospice. Debbie and I were diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time and have truly ridden the Breast Cancer roller coaster together. Our 10 year friendship has been a huge positive and a strength amidst the turmoil of our respective health.
I want to dedicate my upcoming London Marathon 2025 challenge as a tribute to Debbie and a celebration of our friendship. It is also a way to say a heartfelt thank you to the hospice and its dedicated staff at the hospice in Leckhampton. The hospice provided excellent quality end-of-life care and was a true sanctuary for Debbie and her family, I hope it will always be freely available to all.
Personally participating in the London Marathon for Sue Ryder is a way of advocating for the continuation of outstanding end-of-life care that Sue Ryder exemplifies. It is my way of giving back to an organization that has profoundly touched my life and continues to make a difference in the lives of many others.
I have had the backing of my family and oncology team who are behind me every step of the way. I am grateful for the opportunity to promote the work of Sue Ryder, Leckhampton by participating in the London marathon in 2025. While I am fully aware of the scale of the physical challenge, personally it also symbolises resilience and hope.
I am very thankful of the support from 'Next Steps' at Macmillan who have boosted my confidence and helped me become stronger and improve my fitness.
I’ve always enjoyed swimming and cycling so I will be ‘cross-training’ alongside running to help build my fitness for the event.
Please feel free to donate to help support this cause that is very close to my heart.
