In appreciation of University Hospital Lewisham's Paediatrics department, NHS@home and our local GP for the kind, caring and professional treatment she received in October 2023, Lilly will be doing a sponsored swim.

While recovering in hospital, Lilly would often ask the nurses, doctors, physios and anyone else who would listen, when she would be able to swim again. Unfortunately, it would take some weeks before she was fully fit and able to do what truly makes her happy - swimming! Once out of hospital, Lilly returned to see the staff with a lovely card and some Heroes chocolates (only Heroes would do as that's what the staff were in her eyes). After a few days, Lilly asked again how she could say thank you and the idea of a very relaxed Swimathon was born.

We initially suggest she swim for a day but Lilly really wanted to push herself. The plan is for her to swim 1hr (with lots of breaks) everyday (the pool is open) during the school Christmas holidays. There is no set distance, time or speed; she will simply try to swim a little further than the previous day.

We can't thank the NHS enough for the amazing care Lilly received. Hopefully, this will go some way in showing her (and our) gratitude.
