The firewalk hit my inbox and something in me lit up.

I was supposed to share it on social media, help find people to take part, but the fire had already started in me. I wanted the challenge.

I absolutely love my job, and if I get the chance to do something super random to raise money for us, I’m definitely doing it.

This charity truly feels like a community. Every day here is filled with moments that stay with you, memories that show you how valuable belongings really are, and how much meaning they carry in our everyday lives.

Storage is a neglected but vital need for people sleeping vulnerably. Imagine losing everything, and then on your very first night on the street, your bag is stolen. And inside of it is your ID, your documents, your life. Suddenly, for months, you can’t work or access help because you have no proof of who you are. Working here shows that what matters is making sure that even in the toughest of situations, people still have access to parts of themselves. Without Street Storage, those parts would be lost.

We had to remove someone's items recently because we hadn’t heard from them in over a year, but a thoughtful support worker kept hold of his photo album. When he finally got back in touch we returned the only important part of his storage. That’s the kind of charity we are, we see every person, every story, and we honour the emotion that comes with it. And it’s not just about storage. It’s people dropping in to talk, to connect, to look through their things. It’s the support work, being in people’s corners, helping them access support, dignity, and stability.
