Story
Kidney disease is an awful illness which has little awareness, many people do not understand the importance of our kidneys are how vital they are to keep us alive.
This disease has made a drastic impact on my life for not only myself but my family as well. I suddenly discovered I had 2% kidney functioning and have been on peritoneal dialysis since March 2023. This disease has challenged me in ways I never thought possible and the past year has been the hardest year of my life.
There is no cure for those with kidney disease, dialysis is simply a treatment which keeps me alive. I am fortunate that I am fit to have a kidney transplant and I am hopeful this will happen sometime in the near future. Despite a transplant, I will have to live with this disease for the rest of my life, and no doubt I will need several kidney transplants in my lifetime.
I'm completing the Kidney Care UK October Dog Walking Challenge to make sure that no one faces kidney disease alone and raise some money for a very important charity to help support people just like myself.
I am aiming to walk 35 miles in October with my little Maltipoo dog Rolo. 35 miles may not seem far to complete in a month, but for someone such as myself on dialysis due to kidney failure, 35 miles is a heck of a lot to walk! This is a great cause for raising money for Kidney Care UK and also a personal goal for myself to get active. So wish me luck!
Any donation no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much.
