Lew's fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy UK

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Six years ago, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1. As the first in my family to receive this diagnosis, it was a daunting and uncertain time. Navigating the challenges of a new label, even as more family members joined me, has been a difficult journey.
MDUK has been an invaluable resource, providing essential information and support. Despite the lack of a cure and little effective treatment, I am determined not to let this disease define me. It won't dictate my life. That's why running the London Marathon is so deeply personal.
By raising money for this incredible charity, I hope to give back to the organization that has helped so many people, including myself. I want to prove to myself, my friends, and my family that I can overcome challenges and achieve extraordinary things. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a positive impact and show that even in the face of adversity, an optimistic attitude and sheer determination can always prevail.
