Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School have been working with international charity Lepra to explore the work being done right now to beat leprosy, a disease that is still destroying lives. Due to fear and lack of knowledge, there are over 3 million people living with undiagnosed leprosy and every day the disease damages their health, livelihoods and futures. A further 4 million have been disabled by leprosy, with many requiring life-long support.

Lepra find, treat and provide support to people affected by leprosy so they can overcome the disease, the disabilities and stigma it brings. Lepra is working in India and Bangladesh supporting some of the most vulnerable members of society. Through raising awareness, prevention, treatment and follow-up, we support people so that they can have normal lives.

Students have developed their own exciting fundraising plans and will be taking on a range of challenges including a Lepra Zumba Workout to help raise funds for more early diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for those affected by leprosy. The fundraising plans include:

• Asking family, friends and caregivers for a donation

• Doing jobs around the home; household chores, looking after pets, making dinner, cleaning the car and more.

• Doing something sponsored - a sponsored silence, a tech free day!

• Getting active and doing a run / cycle / bounce / skip
