Story
I'm participating in the World AIDS Day RED RUN 2024 in support of PrEPster!
On Saturday 23rd November 2024 I'll be taking part in this year's Red Run in Victoria Park, East London. I'm running to support PrEPster - a small grass-roots organisation that has been at the forefront of educating and agitating for PrEP access in England and beyond.
Over the past year, PrEPster has started a monthly peer-led trans-health needle exchange, produced an online and physical DoxyPEP guide for anyone who wants to learn more about how it works and how to access it, produced an online and physical guide on kink and BDSM and how to navigate consent and safety, produced an online guide safer anabolic steroid use for building muscle with fewer risks, then collaborated with Act UP NY to adapt those guides for a US audience, we've done dozens of community events for queer people of colour and queer migrants; spoken to hundreds of people in both online and offline outreach, produced research on young queer men in London about their experiences accessing PrEP, produced research on queer communities about their experiences with drugs and alcohol, hosted a community residency for queer migrant men at Queer Britain, worked with Grindr and Sexual Health London to provide over 700 free STI kits to people in London using the app, launched a podcast on the battle to get PrEP on the NHS, and distributed 7500 condom packs at Glastonbury.
PrEPster isn't a huge organisation but it punches way above its weight. We keep our overheads right down - ensuring that donations will go right into where the work is needed. Donations raised by the runners in 2018 helped to fund our short video Date PrEP, which aimed to raise awareness about PrEP in young Black African and Caribbean communities.
Will you help me to keep PrEPster on the go for another year? There's still a huge amount of work to do to get PrEP available for free for all who need it. Help me reach my target by donating any amount - small or large - I'll be hugely grateful. I hope my donations will go towards new projects that improve the sexual health of trans and non-binary people, gay and bisexual men, migrants, sex workers, people of colour and people living with HIV.
* Because PrEPster is not a registered charity, they cannot register directly on Justgiving (PrEPster is a project of The Love Tank CIC). As with last year, all funds raised by PrEPster at Red Run will be passed over to PrEPster by Positive East.
