Every year, thousands of young Londoners are pushed into homelessness and danger through no fault of their own. That’s why New Horizon Youth Centre exists. Team New Horizon are racing for young Londoners in this year's Hackney Half Marathon.

Story

I'm running the Hackney Half Marathon again! This time, I'm raising money for New Horizon Youth Centre - a fantastic organisation that supports young people experiencing homelessness.

I've been working for NHYC for 9 months now and have seen, day in day out, the integral part we play for young people experiencing homelessness in London. From the running of our day centre where we provide free hot meals to over 50 young people everyday, to the critical work done by our YJ team supporting young people coming through the criminal justice system, there's a true commitment to the cause that has a tangible impact on the lives of young people.

Your donation to NHYC, however large or small, is a vital contribution to the growing issue of youth homelessness in London. The money you donate may pay for some hot meals for a young person that has no recourse to public funds, or for a young person's transport to a critical job interview, in-turn allowing them to find accommodation. These are all hugely important contributions and have lasting effects on the young people.

£27 could give a young person a night's respite off the streets.

£16 could give a young person facing homelessness access to expert housing advice.

£8 could cover the travel cost for a young person heading to their first interview.

£5 could cover the cost for a young person to have a hot nutritious meal at the day centre.

£60 could cover the cost of a 1:1 a therapy session.

£19 could provide a budgeting workshop.

Every year, thousands of young Londoners are pushed into homelessness and danger through no fault of their own. That’s why New Horizon Youth Centre exists.

Last year 136,000 young people asked for help from their local council because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness. New Horizon are the only youth-specific rough sleeping outreach service and the only youth-specific day centre in London, where young people from all across London and the world can access their holistic support.
