About All the Challenges and Events
Libby and I have committed to a year of challenges and events to raise much-needed funds for City Hospice.
In the lead-up to this challenge, we will be undertaking a series of demanding events, including international cycles, marathons, long-distance swims, and more. We will also host various local events, with details to be announced soon.
Our goal is to push our limits to help those who need it most. With your support, we can make a significant difference in the lives of many. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to ensuring that City Hospice can continue its compassionate work within our community.
About City Hospice
City Hospice is Cardiff’s local hospice, providing essential palliative care to those with life-limiting conditions in our community. Their mission is to allow patients to live their lives with dignity and comfort, in the place of their choice, surrounded by loved ones. The care they provide is invaluable to those facing diagnoses such as Cancer, Dementia, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and other life-limiting illnesses.
However, delivering this level of care in the community comes at a significant cost. To ensure that every patient receives the dignity, comfort, and quality of life they deserve, fundraising is crucial to the charity’s operations.
We are fortunate as a country to have a charity like City Hospice, providing care to those who need it most. Without their support, many would face a very different end-of-life experience.
The 1st Challenge (Complete)
To kick off the series, on the 7th of September Leon and four friends (Callum, Louis, Dan & Tyler) will embark on a gruelling five-day journey across four countries, travelling from London to Amsterdam—completely unaided, with no external support. This journey will likely include plenty of harsh weather as this 'summer' comes to a close.
The 2nd Challenge (Complete)
Shortly after Leon’s cycle to Amsterdam, Libby and Leon are taking on a closer-to-home event: the Cardiff Half Marathon. Neither of us has run this far before, so it’s certainly going to be a challenge!
The 3rd Event (Complete)
Libby pulled together a fantastic Christmas bingo night, which was a great success, raising over £2,000 in one night. Leon hosted the bingo and ensured all of our sponsors were well represented. We've received lots of great feedback, and many even ask for 2nd in 2025... TBC
The 4th Challenge (Failed)
Leon set out to take on a challenging involving consistency. 100 press ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats, for everyday of Janauary. With the weather performing badly throughout the month, an indoor challenge was welcoming. Unfortunately with a ski holiday in the middle of the challenge, it broke the consistency and ended with a failure. In light of the failure, we donated an additional £500.
The 5th Challenge....
